Dave made himself a Boom Box for use on drama or commercials as a place to store poles, batteries and other spares when the sound trolley was some distance from the set.
You can have your own Boom Box!
As each Boom Box is made to order yours can built to your specification and feature set. Perhaps some large hooks inside to hang cables or headphones on. What would you find useful? A water bottle holder?
Interested?
Please contact Dave to discuss your specification and features.
Boom Box with pole

Key features:

  • Two tubes to take two poles, long & short
  • Stable with two poles, with mics, in place
  • Handy carrying slot in top
  • Sturdy screwed construction made from 3/4" (18 mm) WBP ply
  • Stands 18" (46 cm) high, a comfortable height for a seat
  • Placed open side down you have your own 12" (30 cm) high "apple box", eliminates the risk that Grips have used all theirs or don't have one
  • "Apple box" platform 18" (46 cm) square
  • Compartment accessories box to store batteries, adpaters, etc
  • Bungey to keep accesories box closed in transit or when being used in "apple box" mode
The grass is hiding the fact that the shelf is actually 1 1/2" (40 mm) above the ground. Contact with the ground is just the bottom edges of the back and sides.
The small white box is cordless door bell. Boom Op carries the bell push, the bell box is placed on the mixers trolly. Operating the bell push sounds a chime and flashes a strobe light a few times thus attracting the mixers attention.
